This quarter we celebrate the Girl Scout Troops of Central Maryland who earned the Chesapeake Chapter, U.S.L.H.S. “Keeping the Lights Shining” Scouts Patch by hosting the Exploring Our National Treasures Community Event – AND – CANTASTIC! On Saturday, March 9, 2019 the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland held a community event in Catonsville, Maryland, spotlighting the Chesapeake Bay. The Chapter was invited to participate in one of the classrooms and to judge the “Cantastic” contest.
We had a wonderful time educating over 100 Maryland Girl Scouts of all ages about the lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay, then judging their incredible creative lighthouses made from cans and non-perishable items that were donated after the event! What a great experience! The eleven entries were amazingly creative, and the organizers did a wonderful job keeping everyone engaged.
The Cantastic winners were:
Daisy/Brownie
• Overall and most food – Old/New Cape Henry Lighthouses
• Most creative – Assateague Lighthouse
Jr/Cadet
• Most food – Baltimore Light
