Keepers Mascot: Maddie

Maddie is a beautiful 4 year old long dark brown hair cat. She came to me when she was 2 at a time in my life in which I was in a dark place and I was praying light in my life. A close friend of mine had randomly asked me if I knew anyone who would take in a cute cat because his girlfriend wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. When he sent me a picture, not only did I fall in love, I knew she was the light I was praying for, and I did not hesitate to take her in.

I found out quickly that Maddie was quite a character. She took to and depended on me as quickly as I did to her. She’s my little princess and lives up to the title with her mannerisms. She has little characteristic ticks that never fail in making me smile. She won’t play with her toys when you’re looking. Every so often she won’t realize I’m watching her play with a rubber band or her little blue mouse. She will sleep in the funniest positions – like on her back with her legs straight up, or spiraled out with her front legs gently crossed under her, or in a ball sitting up with her head tucked under her. My favorite is when she does what I like to call her “exercises” and she will run from one side of the house to the other. The best part is she will make this little purr-like meow as she just starts to sprint.

I don’t know what I do without my Maddie, and I don’t care how corny it sounds, I truly thank God everyday for answering my prayer because she is my little ball of light in my life.

Maddie “crossed the bar” on August 3, 2013.
