The first Thomas Point workday for the year was held on Saturday April 12, 2014. Eleven volunteers were kept busy on the official opening of the Thomas Point preservation season. After a cold harsh winter that didn’t seem to want to release it’s grip on us this year it was time to break out the paintbrushes and cleaning supplies. Doors were painted, railings were repaired, quarter round was cut for edging of the kitchen floor and a lot of cleaning was needed. It appears that birds had sabotaged the squawker that is supposed to discourage them from congregating on the light. Two of the speaker lines were broken – Hobie suspects some of the birds were responsible. In any case, there was a lot of clean up to do as a result.
Volunteers also began work to conceal some of the cable in the kitchen food closet.
