Volunteers spent a beautiful Saturday out on the bay working on Thomas Point Lighthouse. The lighthouse was full of the sounds of activity as volunteers spread out and got down to work. The two thresholds were installed for the doors leading out to the first floor deck. The last skid-resistant tread was applied to the platform ladder, The kitchen cistern closet was emptied, scraped and painted and very heavy coil magneto was removed. Volunteers also sanded and cleaned portions of the kitchen floor and the closet door in the sitting room was painted. Several shelves supports were installed in the kitchen pantry. The shelves were cut and will be primed and painted before being installed at a later date. The quarter round molding for the kitchen were painted and some areas of the kitchen baseboard were caulked. The boards supporting the cupola catwalk were scraped and painted on two sides. And last but not lease a pencil sharpener was attached to the desk in the Coast Guard room. (It’s those little touches that add so much!)
