Thomas Point as we leave April 20, 2013
It was a big work crew this time out. It was a very breezy and chilly morning as 15 Chesapeake Chapter volunteers headed out to the iconic lighthouse. Transportation was provided by Capt. Howard Lewis aboard the Audacious.
Volunteers were all over the light.
A piece of siding was replace that had a gap that had housed a vent for the kitchen in the more recent Coast Guard days. Those kitchen appliances are long gone and the vent had been boarded up. Now a whole piece of siding was being installed.
Al Pearson starts to remove board.
Virginia primes some of the boards
Henry prepares the area as he gets ready to remove last of the old paint from the kitchen pantry.
Heidi scrapes the old paint off the tool shed. Volunteers pause for a quick chat on a windy day.
The second floor rooms were given a good scrub down prior to a new coat of paint.
Ed is not lying down on the job. He’s scraping the exterior deck board. The exterior board on the deck that receives the most weathering was scraped and given a coat of primer.
Tony and Karl remove part of the old dock.
A donated piece of furniture is pulled up by Tony,Hobie and Henry.
Displays are hung on wall. Hobie caulks around door frame.
