The annual volunteer workday for the crew from Keast & Hood was as usual a very productive workday on the light. Each year, employees of Keast & Hood, a structural engineering company, volunteer their time and talent for a day out at Thomas Point. On this day they replaced two of the deck boards that were in poor condition.  Since it wouldn’t be a complete workday at a lighthouse without at least a little painting they broke out the scrapers and paintbrushes and scraped some of the flaking paint off of the sitting room ceiling and applied a coat of new paint to the lantern room ceiling.  I think if you were a lighthouse keeper you better not have minded constant scraping and painting. They also repaired a pesky sticking dead bolt on the kitchen exterior door. And last, but not least they completed the cable enclosure in the kitchen pantry.
