On November 7th Hobie and Tony were on the road again. They headed down to Point Lookout Lighthouse on a wet and miserable day to finish the Buoy Shed Window Project they had started back in July. They added some brass locks to the windows they had installed this past summer and then they also installed some small wooden blocks to help keep the upper panes securely in place. There was also a bit of caulking needed to finish things properly. In addition to the window work they also fastened a loose corner board to help button up the building for the coming winter.
November 7 also happened to be Point Lookout Lighthouse’s final Open House for the year. While Hobie and Tony worked on the shed windows, their better halves (this according to Tony!)- Winnie & Alma – did publicity duty for the Chapter in the Lighthouse. At the Open House they met a number of visitors and spoke with Ray Hartzell, the last CG keeper at the lighthouse. Ray participated in the event with his daughter and brought an album of photos to share.
Also, as Tony notes on the way home, they made a detour and got a distant look at Point No Point Lighthouse. The restoration/repair of the caisson is still going on as scaffolding, green tarp and what appears to be a pier remain in place.
