On Wednesday November 4th, two of our most productive volunteers – Tony Pasek and Hobie Statzer went up to lend a hand repairing some of the windows up at the freshly painted Concord Point Lighthouse. They joined the President of the Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse, Floyd Dobson to do a little maintenance before winter sets in. They replaced lower pane of the mid-level window on the eastern or water-side of the tower. This took a little longer than anticipated because they found that they also had to repair a corner of the windowsill that had decayed. They did a “Dutch-man” procedure to correct the problem and had to cut the interior molding strips and the windowsill to accommodate the new pane.
Hobie also replaced the interior barrel bolt lock on the lantern room door. There was more to do (well there always is – isn’t there?) but they ran out of time & daylight before they could replace the lower-level windowpane that was damaged by vandals earlier this year – so that will have to wait until next spring.
