Date of Service: 1869 – 1879

1815:  Abraham Parkinson is born in Maryland.

1845:  Abraham Parkinson marries Henrietta Marie Hood on March 20th, in MD.

1860:   In the U.S. Census, Abraham lives in Annapolis with his wife Henrietta, son Abram, and daughter Mary Josephine. His occupation is shoemaker.

1863:   Abraham’s wife, Henrietta Parker dies.

1869-1879:  Abraham Parkinson is appointed Principal Keeper at Sandy Point Lighthouse, MD. (His daughter Mary Josephine Parkinson and son Abram Parkinson both serve as First Assistant). His salary was $540/year.

1870:  In the U.S. Census, Abraham is listed as widowed, a lighthouse keeper, living with his daughter Mary (18), and Abram (16), in Anne Arundel County, MD.

1879:   Abraham Parker dies while serving as Principal Keeper at age 64. He is buried at Saint Anne’s Cemetery, Annapolis, MD.
