Historical Placard: Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse (Outdoor)

The second outdoor lighthouse historical display for 2020 featured our own Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse which was installed at the eastern peninsula of Thomas Point County Park in early September 2020.  This location has possibly the best view from the shore of the iconic Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse that received important structural repairs this year under the supervision of the U. S. Lighthouse Society volunteers.  The display is located near the location of the two previous Thomas Point Lighthouses on shore before the current light was built out on the shoal.  Here the park staff also installed the display at no cost.  This helps keep the costs for these National Park Service quality displays low enough that the chapter can install two per year with the current annual budget.  This was the last outdoor lighthouse historical display to be installed by the Chesapeake Chapter in 2020.

Unfortunately, due to the medical restrictions at the time, we could not hold a formal unveiling ceremony.
