At the Chapter Board Meeting in early September, Chapter President Cory Talbott and Programs Chair Greg Krawczyk displayed the Maryland Governor’s Citation conferred to the Chesapeake Chapter “in recognition of the unique and historic role which the Lighthouse has played in helping to build our great Nation…in celebration of the 12th Maryland Lighthouse Challenge—a time to explore Maryland’s historic lighthouses during a two-day driving tour of viewing some of our state’s most beautiful spots; and as our citizens join in commending The Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society for its commitment to promote public awareness of the need for restoration and preservation of America’s lighthouses in the Chesapeake Bay area”. The citation was signed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford, and Secretary of State John Wobensmith.

The Maryland Governor’s citation is a tribute to the many volunteers who perform the preservation on our bay lighthouses, serve as docents for Thomas Point, perform ceremonies for lighthouse keepers, develop historical displays, man the lighthouses for the lighthouse Challenge and help with the administration and management of the Chesapeake Chapter. WELL DONE ALL!
