Volunteers Tony Pasek and Hobie Statzer have made a few trips down to Point Lookout Light Station where they are working with Point Lookout volunteer Chuck Kohls to restore the windows in the old buoy shed that sits next to the lighthouse. The shed has been a fixture on the site since 1883 when the site also became a lighthouse depot.
In April, They removed some of the window sashes and took them to Hobie’s workshop where he and Tony have worked to restore them. On May14th they returned to reinstall three of the refurbished windows. The old shed, long idle is getting a bit of a face lift thru the efforts of volunteers.
You can visit the light station which is located in Point Lookout State Park. The shed is not open to the public for safety reasons but you can see if from the lighthouse. If you want to visit, you should check the schedule on the Point Lookout Lighthouse Preservation Society website. The lighthouse is open April thru November for their monthly open house events. Check the website for the schedule.
