Chapter volunteers Tony Pasek and Hobie Statzer returned to Concord point to help the “Friends of Concord Point Lighthouse” with a project. They met with Friend’s President Floyd Dobson and worked on the exterior siding of the cupola. First they removed old caulk, scraped and cleaned the siding and brass top rail – displacing many spiders and clearing out the dead gnats around the window frames and under the roofline and around the railings as they went. They then painted the nine wooden sides with special Rust-oleum paint. They caulked where needed and then swept the catwalk of debris.
They also gave a light cleaning to the windows. Finally they removed the small hatch doors to the catwalk and Hobie will use his carpentry skills to restore them at his home workshop.
They will return later to re-install the hatch doors and possibly do some other work later in the year.
