Twelve photographers entered the 2014 Chesapeake Chapter Photo Contest. The photos were displayed at the celebratory picnic where Chapter members voted for their favorites. While participation was a bit low (there wasn’t a lot of time for entries to be submitted), all the entries were very good and we appreciate those who participated. The categories for the 2014 competition were:
- For those 12 and under there was a drawing contest. Draw your favorite lighthouse.
- Black & White Photography
- Sunrise/Sunset
- Special Effects (do what ever manipulation you like)
- Abandoned Lights
And the winners were……
The first place for drawing goes to Serenity Love who entered a wonderful drawing of the Ft. Washington Light – a fitting entry given the picnic was held at Ft. Washington Park.
The First place for Black and White photography goes to Ed Shaw with his shot of Concord Point.
The first place for Sunrise or Sunset goes to Ruth Rosenthal for her shot of a coastal light.
The first place for special effects Claudia Talbot for her shot of one of the towers at the Navesink Light. Second place goes to Alma Pasek for her shot of Seven Foot Knoll. Third place goes to Ed Shaw for his shot of Lime Point Light fog building.
The abandon light had several depictions of our nearest and dearest abandoned light – that small beacon that graced Fort Carroll. First place for her shot of Fort Carroll light goes to Ruth Rosenthal. Second place goes to Ed Shaw again of Fort Carroll and third place goes to Tony Pasek for his shot of…. you guessed it – Fort Carroll Light.
