1861:  Born to parents Benjamin and Ann Grymes in King George County, VA.

1870:  In the U.S. Census, Benjamin, 9 years old, lives with his sister Martha, and parents on Mathias Point in King George County, VA.

1880:  In the U.S. Census, Benjamin, age 19 and single, lives with his sister Martha and mother in King George County, VA.

1886-1919:     Benjamin C. Grymes is appointed Principal Keeper at Mathias Point Shoal Lighthouse, MD. His beginning salary is $550/year, and his ending salary is $960/year. (His sister Martha served as First Assistant).

1900:   In the U.S. Census, Benjamin, single and 38 years old, lives with his sister Martha and mother in King George County, VA.

1910:  Benjamin C. Grymes marries Rosalie Eugenia Stuart on June 22, in King George County.

1916:  Benjamin Grymes is awarded the Inspector’s Efficiency Star. Keepers who have been commended for efficiency at each quarterly inspection during the year are entitled to wear the inspector’s star for the next year.

1920:   In the U.S. Census, Benjamin aged 58, lives with his wife Rosalie in King George County. His occupation is listed as farmer.

1930:  In the U.S. Census, Benjamin, aged 68, lives with his wife Rosalie in King George County, VA.

1930:  Benjamin C. Grymes dies on December 20th, in Richmond, VA. at age 69. He is buried at Stuart & Grymes Family Cemetery in King George County, VA.
