This past month, on the June 20th volunteers spent some time preparing the light for the first visitors of the season. They swept and vacuumed the floors and the scrap lumber from the woodworkers’ projects and from the railing work up top was gathered up and removed. While the light was being readied for visitors, other volunteers continued work on the equipment room – adding more siding pieces to the wall. There is only a small section remaining and the walls will be completed. Work also continued on the new equipment room closet. In what might be first – there was no painting this time!

Tours are now available so you can visit the light and see the work being done first hand. To sign up for a visit go to the United States Lighthouse Society website at uslhs.org and scroll down to the Thomas Point Lighthouse Excursions. You will find the schedule of tours, pricing and other information as we as the phone number to call for reservations.
