Several Chapter volunteers showed up in Baltimore to work on the Lightship Chesapeake. Some volunteers worked on the damage control locker on the top deck. It was sanded and then primed and painted. It is now ready to install a display. Well, it’s almost ready to install a display! After scraping and chipping and priming we finally applied a coat of actual paint to the upper fidley over the engine room. It looks much brighter in there with a coat of white paint. Several of the electrical boxes were disconnected from the bulkhead so they could be cleaned and refurbished and the area beneath them could be primed. Another coat of paint was put on the door to the Captain’s cabin. Some new electrical cable was strung in the anchor room. The glass was cleaned on the compass in the forward bridge. And a mirror was made to shine as all the “gook” was removed.
