NOTE:  We have had multiple inquiries for directions.  They are currently being reviewed to make sure nothing has changed on the roadways, and will be posted within the next week or so.  Sorry for the delay, but we want to be as accurate with our directions as possible.  Thank you for your patience.

Please note: There are two concerts scheduled for the Pier VI pavilion on Saturday. This may result in very difficult parking issues, and area parking rates at garages and lots being raised significantly (to a flat fee) beginning in the afternoon. SANDY POINT SHOAL

This is an offshore caisson-style lighthouse to be viewed offshore from Sandy Point State Park. The park is at the western terminus of the Bay Bridge, along Route 50 (in between mandatory lights Seven Foot Knoll in Baltimore and Hooper Strait in St. Michaels.)  Enter Sandy Point State Park, Exit 32.Park personnel at the gate will give you a handout and direct you to the best place within the park to view the lighthouse.

Park Open: 6am to sunset

$3.00 per person to enter park if you wish to view and photograph this lighthouse.

****Note: Passengers of vehicles can see this light when passing over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  You do not have to visit this lighthouse to collect the event souvenir.  It will be available, along with the passport stamp for this lighthouse, at Hooper Strait (the next or previous stop along the Challenge route, depending which direction you are circling the Bay. Challenge volunteers will NOT be set up at this (Sandy Point) location.  So be sure to sign the finishers log and collect the completer souvenir at the Hooper Strait Location in St. Michaels, or your last mandatory stop.
